VINTAGE FRONTIER

Where every piece of junk has endless possibilities!

Motivation Monday: More on H2O

Last week was our first installment of Motivation Monday on The Frontier. I hope y’all enjoyed it. Your thoughts, comments and questions are always welcome, let me know what you think.

This weeks tip’s piggy backs off last weeks. Drinking water is so so so important for overall health, but for some people water is the least appetizing drink in the world, especially if your city doesn’t have the best water, or perhaps you’re on well water.

An easy way to help yourself drink more water is to add fresh flavor with things like lemon and cucumber.

This particular cucumber brought to you by….my amazing gardening skills.

Tip # 1

Invest in a good water filter pitcher. The Hubs and I are lucky enough to live in a city that has great water (at least in my opinion). I really love cold water though, so the best way to get cold water (besides adding ice, which I don’t like, ain’t nobody got time for adding all that ice),  is keeping a pitcher in the refrigerator, and if you can filter it and keep it cold at the same time, win win.

Tip # 2

Add natural flavor. I mentioned last week that I am a bit of a Dr. Pepper junkie. So when I was first weaning myself off “the juice” it was hard, water was just so plain. Then I was at a wedding and they had a big pitcher of water filled with lemon and cucumber slices and I was hooked! At home in the mornings I usually grab a few slices of lemon and a cucumber throw them in a mason jar and fill with water. Just refill with water throughout the day and at the end of the day throw out the lemon and cucumber, starting fresh the next morning. Some other options are lemon and lime, lime and peppermint (The Hubs personal favorite), raspberry and strawberries, the possibilities are pretty endless. There are these great water bottles out there that allow you to infuse you water and keep the ingredients separate, which would be a great investment, I always drink through a straw so I don’t really feel like one of those is necessary for me.

Adding flavor to your water is a great way to encourage yourself to drink more water.

If you are really looking to start practicing a healthier lifestyle then water should be your first step. Do whatever it takes to drink as much water as possible every day.

We used a strawberry, lime, and cinnamon concoction last month when we detoxed. The cinnamon was surprisingly good with the strawberry.

I love putting lemons in my water but I’ve never tried it with cucumbers. I’m going to have to try that!

Grace, it is super refreshing. Not to mention I have a garden full of cucumbers that I need to figure out how to use before the end of the fall. 🙂

Thanks Audrey. I have come to really enjoy it. I used to go out to restaurants and they would put lemon in my water and I wouldn’t drink it. Now I won’t drink it if they don’t put a lemon in it.
