VINTAGE FRONTIER

Where every piece of junk has endless possibilities!

Back in the Saddle Again!

Welp Ladies and Gents,

Its about 12:24 am on Monday March 14th, and I am still awake. I have been up in bed for hours thinking and there is nothing I can come up with except that I need to get up and get my thoughts down (or Daylight Savings Time hit me harder than it usually does).

I knew something had to be done when I rolled over and told The Hubs I couldn’t sleep. Now normally when he can’t sleep I rub his head to help him relax, so I was expecting something similar, only to be disappointed with a quick pat on the arm followed by him rolling over. Ugh.

So here I am in the middle of the night typing away, putting thoughts to proverbial digital paper.

I have been absent from this, my little corner of the internet, for that past couple months and it all comes down to simple writers block…and maybe a little bit of unmotivated depression (seasonal depression in not uncommon in this part of the world). I had gotten into a pretty normal routine of writing on Mondays (about my healthy lifestyle and weight loss journey) and on Fridays (a quick five minute DIY project) and while both of those things are still, very much, a part of my life, the topics were feeling very uninspiring. But I felt tied to them and so rather than just own my own blog and write whatever I wanted and whatever was coming to mind. I chose to just not write (which is never the answer).

So I thought I would just share a few of my favorite things from the past couple of months to catch y’all up…and introduce you to some new faces you might be seeing around here.

Bible Journaling:

If you follow me on Instagram at all you have probably noticed a bit of a change in theme from my normal food, booze and antique pictures. Bible journaling has been something I have wanted to get into for a while now. I noticed some fun pictures pop up on my Pinterest feed about a year ago and did some Googling (like any enterprising millennial) and learned that people drawing in their bibles was a thing.

The notes I have always taken at church on Sunday and in my own Journals have always been accompanied by doodles and drawings and so the idea of being able to draw in my bible as I read through it was very appealing. For Christmas my awesome friend Steph from over at Sustaining the Powers gave me a journaling bible and some fun paints and supplies to go with it.

As they say in the movies….the rest is history…ok it has only been three months, but the change I have seen in my life and my relationship with God has been exponential. Daily devotionals were always a very hard thing for me and I always found them very dry, but I knew I had to do it, but I didn’t want to. Now that I can really connect with the word in a tactile way I find myself connecting much more.

Bible Journaling has become my favorite part of the day.

Like I said earlier this will probably be something you will see a lot more of around here on The Frontier. My faith is a huge part of my life (who am I kidding) it is the most important part of my life and I would love to share that with others. #frontierfaith

My Silhouette Cameo:

Another Christmas present from this year! My mom was begging me to open in earlier than Christmas morning because she wanted to start some projects, but alas, I waited (patients in a virtue right?).

If you don’t know a Silhouette is a brand of Die Cut Machine. Basically it is a really precise pair of scissors.

I have created a few projects so far, mostly cards and clothes, but I have my eyes on some stencil stock, to make my own stencils for pallet signs.

The Dog:

We got a Dog! More on him in a couple of days.

Last but certainly not least….

Looking at pictures from our trip to San Diego:

Our vacation to California was amazing. After a crazy Holiday Season we needed a get away.

Our vacation to California was amazing. After a crazy Holiday Season we needed a getaway.

At the beginning of February The Hubs and I took a trip to San Diego. We both wanted to get some sun and plane tickets were amazingly cheap.

Whale watching was the best part of the trip, for some reason we always go somewhere near the ocean for vacation…probably because we live in one of the most land locked places in the US.

Whale watching has been on my bucket list for years. San Diego is the place to go for Whale Watching.

Visiting the San Diego Zoo has always been on my bucket list and I can tell you that it does not disappoint. It was highly interactive and we got to put in about 15000 steps on our fitbits.

A visit to the San Diego Zoo is a must if you visit Southern Cali.

We spent a ton of time at the beach and slept in a lot (which is what vacations are about, right?).

Welp it is going on 1:30 am and I feel like my mind has been emptied and comforted.

In the coming weeks I will have a few projects and posts  to share with y’all, as I try to figure out where we are headed…that’s the thing about The Frontier…you don’t really ever know where you are going. But thank for being on this journey with me!

Nichole
