Welp it is almost that time: Football, Food Coma’s, and your annoying Aunt Fern (I don’t know if you have an annoying Aunt Fern…the name just worked for the aliteration).
Its almost Thanksgiving…my second favorite Holiday (honestly they are all my favorite). I love any excuse to hang out with family and friends, eat food, play games, watch movies and sleep for 12 hours straight.
It is also a great day to go overboard. I could honestly eat about ten plates full of my grandmothers mashed potatoes and turkey gravy! Or my Aunts Sweet Dressing, and don’t get me started on the Crescent Rolls.
And I can honestly say that I don’t really feel that bad about going a little overboard on Thanksgiving. It gives me some delayed gratification. The days leading up to Thanksgiving I try to eat a little better and work out a little more. And then the day arrives and its a veritable smorgasbord and I don’t hold back.
But there are always a few little things you can do to lessen the caloric pain of Thanksgiving. Today’s Motivation Monday will focus on a few fun recipes you can bring to your families/friends Thanksgiving meal to lighten the load…so to say.
This Cranberry Orange Quinoa Salad, from Family Spice, looks amazing. I love the great colors and I cant wait to try it out.
In our family we never really have a salad at Thanksgiving…just lots of carbs and protein, so this Apple Cranberry Walnut Salad, from Creme De La Crumb sounds like the perfect full fiber salad we need.
A final option is for a great brussels sprout salad, from Gimme Some Oven. Getting my family to eat brussels sprouts is really hard so this year I am going to try to sneak them in disguised as a salad. Wish me luck.
So there you have a few options for keeping your Thanksgiving meal a little more on the light side. Do you have any favorite Thin Thanksgiving recipes? Let me know.
Until next time,
Nichole

It is such a wonderful salad. I make it with the Briana’s Poppyseed dressing and it is so good anytime of year. Thanks for stopping by.
